The shot is on the card. The card is in the camera. The reader is in a drawer at home — so the photo you want to send is stuck until you get there.

Three steps, every time.

01

Put the card in.

The card straight out of your camera goes into the slot on the bottom. Push until it clicks. Whatever your camera writes, hako reads.

02

Hold your phone against it.

Thumbnails are on screen in 945 ms, measured. Nothing to pair, nothing to sign in to, no dongle to go looking for.

03

The photos move.

A 5 MB photo lands in about two seconds — 2.5 MB/s typical, 3.5 MB/s peak. Original files, original names.

Measured, not estimated.

USB-CCharge and transferThe same port charges hako and works as an ordinary card reader on a computer.

Plain answers.

Do I need an app?

Yes, the hako app, and there is nothing to sign up for. It is how you browse the card and pick what to keep. No account, no email address, no profile.

Does it use my data or Wi-Fi?

No. Your phone talks to hako directly, so it works with no signal at all — on a mountain, on a plane, anywhere.

How long does a charge last?

About two months on standby. hako sleeps on your keys and wakes when you tap it, so a charge is measured in months of carrying rather than hours of use.

Can I plug it into a computer?

Yes. USB-C charges hako and also makes it a plain card reader — plug it into a laptop and the card mounts like any other, with no app and no drivers.

Which cards work?

Standard full-size SD cards. Whatever your camera writes, hako reads.

Does it change my files?

Never. Original file, original filename. No re-encoding, no renaming.

Can I buy one?

Not yet — hako launches on Kickstarter. Join the waitlist below and we write to you once, when you can buy one. You can also hold your place with a refundable deposit, which unlocks a discount at launch.

Your photos stay yours.
